February 2009 Event & Tasting Calendar

Below is a listing of the wine events that I have scheduled in the Hartford, CT area over the next few weeks and months. I will be hosting many of these events, but additionally I have a number of associates who will be lending a hand hosting some great events of their own. This is the first of seven classes I will be hosting this Winter/Spring at the Blue Heron – our focus this session is to dive deeper into the terroir of the various wines regions and compare style differences based on geography. This week’s focus will be on Cabernet Sauvignon from California.

3/11 - Wine Class @ Blue Heron

This is the second of seven classes I will be hosting this Winter/Spring at the Blue Heron – our focus this session is to dive deeper into the terroir of the various wines regions and compare style differences based on geography. This week’s focus will be on Pinot Noir from California, Oregon, France and New Zealand.

3/14 – Cono Sur Wines Store Tasting
Westside Wines, West Hartford, CT
Taste the selection from Cono Sur Winery – Chile’s first Carbon-Neutral winery and the leading producer of Pinot Noir in S. America – they also make a lot of other great and affordable varietals.

3/18 – Laetitia Winery Winemaker Dinner with Erik Hickey
Max Fish, Glastonbury, CT
Taste the selection of wines from this Central Coast power-house producer. Laetitia has a focus on Pinot Noir but also has great sparkling wines as well as whites. Erik and his father have been involved with Laetitia since 1985 – this promises to be a real treat.

3/19 – A Night in Tuscany
The Farmington Gourmet, Farmington, CT
Taste a great selection of wines from Tuscany with four different reps pouring wines and answering questions. Due to the popularity of this tasting event we may move to larger location – details to follow.

3/23 – South Africa Tasting & Master Class
Presented by Manchester W&L at the Adam’s Mill Restaurant, 165 Adams ST
Join us for the monthly MWL “backroom” tasting, where we explore the wines and regions of South Africa. I will be drawing upon my first hand experience, photos and great portfolio of wines to bring everyone up to date on what is happening in this great wine producing region.
